New addition to the Diamondbacks this off season starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy made his Diamondbacks debut tonight against the St. Louis Cardinals after 8 long months away from the game of baseball. McCarthy last regular season start was back in September of 2012 when he was a member of the Oakland Athletics baseball team in which on September 5th,2012 McCarthy suffered a skull fracture which sidelined him for the rest of the 2012 season and the Oakland Athletics playoff run in 2012.

McCarthy returned to the mound on April 3rd, 2013 this time as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks as he took on the St. Louis Cardinals. In his return McCarthy struggled heavily in his return to baseball he lasted only 5.0 innings giving up 9 hits, 6 earned runs and recording only 1 strikeout on the night. Brandon McCarthy has been a American League pitcher his entire career and coming over to the National League in his 1st start back just has not been the greatest sight.

After the 3 game series with the St. Louis Cardinals the Diamondbacks will be hitting the road against the Milwaukee Brewers for another 3 game set in which McCarthy will not pitch. But McCarthy will be called to the mound on the 1st game back from the road trip against Milwaukee as the Diamondbacks take on the Pittsburgh Pirates in game Diamondbacks fans should really be focused into seeing.
