This afternoon, the Phoenix Suns took on the Western Conference champion San Antonio Spurs in preseason action. The Suns would use their athleticism and quickness to defeat the Spurs 106-99.

Forward Gerald Green led the Phoenix Suns in scoring today with 19 points as he was inserted into the starting lineup. Green also took the most shots on the team today taking 15. He was the only player in the starting lineup that reached double figures. Goran Dragic who started today’s game was held scoreless and only played seven minutes.

Off the bench, Dionte Christmas and P.J. Tucker both had solid games shooting the ball. In 19 minutes of the bench, Christmas scored 14 points and shot 3 of 4 from the three point line. On the other hand, Tucker scored 14 points in 14 minutes. I expect both Christmas and Tucker to be key contributors this season off the bench.

For the Spurs nobody really stood out as it was a regular preseason game for them. The leading scorer for the Spurs was “The Big Fundamental” himself Tim Duncan with 12 points and 4 rebounds.

The Suns should be happy that they beat the Spurs in preseason but have to remember its only preseason. But believe this, the Suns will be one of the most athletic teams in the NBA this upcoming season.
