On Saturday night the Arizona Cardinals put on a show as they took down the Houston Texans 32-0. Players on both offense and defense contributed to a complete victory for the Cards.

Yes, it was just a preseason game but much can still be learned from these, considered to be, meaningless games; like who will keep their job and who will be left on the street.

So who outperformed the rest? This is a really tough question to answer as there could easily be multiple MVPs for this game.

I would have to go with Cardinals’ rookie wide receiver, John Brown. Brown had nice stats with 5 receptions for 87 yards but this is not why I would choose Brown.

Brown was getting open on the majority of plays even if he was not being looked at by the quarterback. Not only that, but Brown was performing at a high level, largely against the top string defense of the Houston Texans.

Injuries to Michael Floyd and Ted Ginn gave Brown the opportunity to showcase his abilities with the big boys. That’s exactly what Brown would do which would earn John Brown the game MVP in a game where basically anyone could have won. Heck, even the Cardinals’ rookie kicker, Chandler Catanzaro, could have received MVP for making all of those temporary long extra points.

An honorable mention does go out to rookie quarterback, Logan Thomas, who played the best game he possibly could. Thomas had over a hundred yards passing, a touchdown, and only have one incompletion.

Thomas did most of his work with just the backups which gives John Brown the MVP trophy by just a hair. It will be exciting to see how Brown, Thomas, and the rest of the Arizona Cardinals’ team comes out next week as they will head up to Minnesota for a bout against the Vikings.

Who will be our next MVP? Will it be Brown again or someone that did not even play a snap in the first game? You can find out here at HeatWaved in just a week. Stay tune Card fans.
