Arizona Wildcats Basketball Red/Blue Game Recap
A sold out crowd of 10,001 packed the McKale Memorial Center this afternoon in Tucson, Arizona in light of the annual men’s basketball program red/blue game. Two quarters were played consisting of 12 minutes each.
Starting out with the dunk contest, competitors included Gabe York, Stanley Johnson, Craig Victor, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, and Kadeem Allen. After two rounds Stanley Johnson finished off the dunk contest with a between the legs windmill slam to win.
There was a special moment after the first quarter where former Wildcats Nick Johnson and Aaron Gordon were inducted to the Arizona ring of honor. Banners now hang with each of their name on them up in the rafters.
Both teams looked very good early. Three double-digit scorers for the red team included Craig Victor, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, and Kaleb Tarczewski. Tarczewski was one board shy of a double double. The blue team was led by incoming freshman Stanley Johnson and Dusan Ristic. Johnson had 17 points on 7-13 shooting, while Ristic added 14 points with 3 boards. Ristic and Johnson both looked real sharp handling the basketball and backing down their opponent. Those are defiantly two must watch players for the Wildcats 2014-2015 campaign.
Also to note, freshman Parker Jackson-Cartwright showed lock down defense throughout the entire 2 quarters, which is a good sign for Sean Miller’s defense and Wildcat fans. As for incoming freshman Craig Victor, he had 12 points on 6-8 shooting. There is always a lot more to work on, but this years Arizona Wildcats team no doubt will be considered as a national championship contender.

There isn’t much going on for Arizona Basketball between now and November 9th when the Wildcats host Cal Poly Pomona in their exhibition at the McKale Center.
