The NFL’s annual exhibition featuring the best of the best will have two Arizona Cardinals on the roster.  Cornerback Patrick Peterson and Defensive End Calais Campbell will represent the Birdgang in the game that will be played at University of Phoenix Stadium on Jan. 25.

The two players could end up opposing each other in the second year of the Pro Bowl’s new format.  Alumni Captains Cris Carter and Micheal Irvin will draft their teams on Jan. 21 from a pool of players that include Campbell and Peterson.

Peterson has been excellent for the Cardinals this season grabbing three interceptions with seven pass deflections and one sack.   He has been part of a Cardinals secondary that has been the strength of the Cardinals defense this season. This will be Peterson’s fourth straight Pro Bowl selection.

Campbell has been a stud for Arizona this season recording seven sacks on 53 tackles.  Campbell has also added one interception and two pass deflections to his stat line against the pass. This is Campbell’s first Pro Bowl selection.

This will also be the first time in seven seasons that Larry Fitzgerald will not be running routes as a Pro Bowler.  Fitzgerald has just 755 yards and two touchdowns on 61 receptions this season.

The future Hall of Famer is on the downside of his career and has been hampered with injury this season but has been a key leader for the Cardinals young developing receivers this season.  Unfortunately leadership just isn’t good enough to get you in the Pro Bowl.
