Goran Dragic Doesn’t Trust The Suns Anymore

On Tuesday rumors began circulating that Goran Dragic had told the Suns management that their was no hope of him re-signing in Phoenix next season.  Dragic validated that rumor personally today after a practice session at the US Airways Center.

"“I don’t trust them anymore,” Dragic said following Wednesday’s practice session. “It happens too many times. Two, three times.“They give promises, OK. It’s hard. But at the same time, I wish them all the best. They were great to me the past five years. I’m always going to have a good memory about Phoenix fans and the city. I just hit that point of my career that it’s better for me and my family to move on.”"

When there is a rumor like this it is usually left to the sports writers and bloggers to speculate about the true meaning behind it.  Rarely do we hear candid comments from the athletes themselves that clarify the motivation behind the move especially when it comes a contract or trade.

Goran Dragic made his motivation crystal clear today.

Jeff Hornacek was left holding the bag after practice on Wednesday and was forced to respond to Dragic’s surprising comments.  He acknowledged that Goran may have been upset after the Suns acquired Isiaah Thomas cutting into the Slovenian guards play time.  Although the decision to sign Thomas may have been difficult for Dragic to swallow, Hornacek warns there is two sides to every story.

"“It’s obvious, with the guards, he might be unhappy with it,” Hornacek said. “That’s just part of it, adjusting to things. Was it ideal? No. Would it have got to where it was last year? Maybe.”Hornacek said Dragic’s situation is subjective: “We swing the ball from side to side. He’s gotten the ball on the swing. Everybody has their perception of what’s happening out there. Is it what it was last year? No. But, again, we’re four bounces, four plays away from being 33-21.”"

If there was any question about whether or not the Suns needed to trade Dragic those were answered today.  Now the trick is getting something (anything) of value in return now that the entire league knows Dragic wants out.
