Adrian Peterson’s Dad: Arizona Cardinals A Possibility For Son

With having restructured the contract of wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and having saved $6.8 million off the salary cap by cutting Darnell Dockett today, the Arizona Cardinals suddenly have some money to spend.

That money could be spend on a certain running game who has been away from the game for a year.

According to Chris Tomasson of TwinCities.com, the father of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson said there were three possible destinations for Peterson, which includes the Cardinals, the Dallas Cowboys and the Indianapolis Colts.

For Peterson, the prospects of a championship is very possible for all three landing spots.

The Colts did reach the AFC Championship game, but did get destroyed by eventual Super Bowl champion New England Patriots 45-7. The Baltimore Ravens, in comparison, only lost to the Patriots in the divisional round by a score of 35-31.

Indianapolis did finish 22nd in rushing yards on offense, so adding Peterson would give the Colts a dangerous balance of run and pass with Pro Bowl quarterback Andrew Luck.

The Cowboys are coming off of a 12-4 season, but assuming that free agent running back DeMarco Murray does come back following a season with 1,845 rushing season with 13 touchdowns, it is more than likely that Dallas is not an option. Peterson is from Texas though.

Although the Cardinals first must find a way to bring back contributors such as cornerback Antonio Cromartie and defensive end Tommy Kelly, the Cardinals look like a solid choice for Peterson.

With quarterback Carson Palmer returning from a torn ACL, along with Fitzgerald returning and having running back Andre Ellington back from injury, Peterson would make the Cardinals a very scary offensive team.

Injuries were a big reason why Arizona struggled after a 9-1 start. Having key players such as Palmer , Ellington, offensive guard Jonathan Cooper, back from injury, along with inside linebacker Daryl Washington  coming back from suspension, the Cardinals look like they can be a scary Super Bowl contender next year with a roster full of depth.

Most Arizona fans remember Peterson for being passed on in the 2007 draft for left tackle Levi Brown under the regime of former head coach Ken Whisenhunt and former general manager Rod Graves.

Under the regime of head coach Bruce Arians and general manager Steve Keim, the Cardinals have let go of Brown, who struggled in pass protection, and won at least 10+ games in both seasons so far.

What would be the perfect way to fix the mistake of passing on Peterson? Winning the Super Bowl with Peterson.
