Suns Look to Add a big man in Free Agency

The Suns came into the draft looking to find a big man or shooting guard depending on who was left. They ended up choosing Kentucky SG Devin Booker to add to the back court pressure. There are rumors running around PG Eric Bledsoe that he may be on the move to clear up cap space to add a big man from free agency.

They have a strong back court with Brandon Knight, Archie Goodwin, Gerald Green, and Booker so if Bledsoe was dealt they still have depth as well as a good package in return. The rumored trade could be beneficial to Phoenix only if they know they could nab someone for sure. If he wasn’t traded, they wouldn’t have the money for a superstar but just enough to add a great piece to the paint.

There are a couple guys on the Suns radar with LaMarcus Aldridge at the peak of their wants. It would be a big amount of money to sign him but the 29 year old power forward/center from Texas would put great talent on the floor.

According to James Simpson II from Fansided, the top five landing spots are Houston, New York, LAL, Portland, and San Antonio in that order. Phoenix is defiantly up there in the top ten but probably will not be his home come this fall.

It would be huge if the Suns ended up with Kevin Love as their starting power forward next season but it is a big question where he could land. He said he would stay in Cleveland but that probably will not happen. The Lakers and the Clippers have the best chances to get him in my opinion.

The Lakers obviously have all the money they need to sign anyone but it’s a matter of who wants to play for them. They will probably only sign one of the two between Aldridge and Love leaving one for the Suns to run after. The Clippers will only go after him if DeAndre Jordan signs with the Mavericks. The UCLA native has a good chance to end up at home whether its with the Lakers or Clippers.

Another potential PF Phoenix could sign is Paul Millsap. They have more of a chance to sign him out of any of the three. He won’t be demanding over $100 million like Love or Aldridge but will be a high price. Needless to say Millsap has game. He led the Hawks to the Eastern Conference playoffs this past season and will probably end up back in Atlanta, Phoenix, Houston, or Charlotte.

The Suns will end up signing a big man whether he’s an all star or not. They have the money but it will be tight if they sign one of the three. If they were to sign one of them, they would become a contender in the west. There are good amount of options but these three are the best. If they do or not, they will be strong next season with a lot of talent in the back court at the one and two spots.
