The Arizona Diamondbacks head to Pittsburgh to take on the Pirates in a three-game series. The Diamondbacks are looking for their third straight series win.

In the seven road series that the Diamondbacks have played in so far this season they hold a 6-1 record in the series opening game. The Diamondbacks also have the second best record on the road of all National League teams with a 14-8 mark.

Following a rough April, the starting rotation for the Diamondbacks have turned it on in May, especially on the road. Since May 5, the Diamondbacks starters have a 6-2 record with a 2.63 ERA and are holding opposing batters to a .236 batting average. Pair the terrific pitching with the Diamondbacks bats, that have the third best batting average on the road (.276), and you have a team that is on the up-swing.

The Diamondbacks roll into Pittsburgh with a 21-25 record. Arizona is 6.5 games behind the first-place San Francisco Giants, but are just two games behind the second-place Los Angeles Dodgers.

With Sunday’s victory over the Cardinals, Chip Hale recorded his 100th career victory as a manager. He became the fifth manager in Diamondbacks history to reach the 100-victory mark as he joins Kirk Gibson, Bob Melvin, Bob Brenly, and Buck Showalter.
