Tonight in Arena Football, the Arizona Rattlers took on the San Jose SaberCats as the Rattlers were looking for their 13th win of the season. But it would not come easy as the San Jose SaberCats would be looking for their 9th win and trying to make a playoff push. Well, after the first quarter it was all San Jose as quarterback Russ Michna had a field day against the Rattlers’ defense.

He would throw for 313 yards, nine touchdowns on 24 of 37 passing. Great numbers for Michna as they took down the defending Arena Bowl champions. The SaberCats leading wide receiver in tonight’s game was Fred Williams, who had 10 receptions for 121 receiving yards, and five touchdowns.

Also having a great game catching the ball tonight was his teammate Jason Willis, who had six receptions for 87 receiving yards, and two touchdowns. Even former USC quarterback Mitch Mustain got in the game for the SaberCats as it was a blowout for the most part.

Rattlers quarterback Nick Davila did not have the best of games and in Arena Football when your quarterback is not playing well your offense suffers tremendously. Davila was 22 of 41 for 238 passing yards and threw four touchdowns and one interception.

Those numbers are not going to beat many teams in the Arena Football League. Helping out Davila on the receiving end was wide receiver Maurice Purify who had eight receptions for 114 receiving yards but no touchdowns. Davila’s touchdowns would be caught by receivers Kerry Reed and Tysson Poots.

Even though the Rattlers loss tonight, they are still 12-2, leading West Division in the National Conference, and already clinched a playoff berth. Their next game is on the road at the Orlando Predators on July 6th at 7:00 pm.
