Today, the Phoenix Suns began two-a-day workouts at the U.S. Airways Center as they get ready for the Las Vegas Summer League which will take place from July 12th-22nd.
The Suns will have 12 players on their roster including first round pick Archie Goodwin as fifth overall pick Alex Len has not been signed yet. Head coach Jeff Hornacek will coach the Suns summer league team as this will serve as good practice for him. The Suns summer league roster goes as follows:
Thomas Abercrombie, F, 6-6, 207, Washington State
Chris Babb, G, 6-5, 225, Iowa State
Dionte Christmas, G, 6-5, 205, Temple
Jake Cohen, F, 6-10, 235, Davidson
Diante Garrett, G, 6-4, 175, Iowa State
Archie Goodwin, G, 6-5, 198, Kentucky
Kendall Marshall, G, 6-4, 200, North Carolina
Marcus Morris, F, 6-9, 235, Kansas
Markieff, F, 6-10, 245, Kansas
Arinze Onuaku, C, 6-9, 276, Syracuse
Alex Oriakhi, F, 6-9, 255, Missouri
PJ Tucker, F, 6-6, 235, Texas
Out of all these players, keep your eyes on the two big men in Onuaku and Oriakhi. Both of these guys can be a force in the middle and can a be nice one-two combo with one of the Morris twins. Also pay attention to young guard Archie Goodwin, who came out as a freshman from Kentucky, so this will be a different atmosphere for him but this could be the platform for him to showcase his talents.
The Suns first game in the Vegas Summer League is on July 13th against the Portland Trailblazers at 5:30 pm at the Thomas and Mack Center.
