Yesterday, the Phoenix Coyotes signed first rounder Max Domi to a three year entry level deal. For the Coyotes this is a big deal to get their first round pick signed as they look to keep on building this team. Everybody is excited about Domi coming to the Coyotes including GM Don Maloney.
Maloney said, “Max is a very talented young player with a bright future. He had an impressive prospect development camp and we look forward to watching his progress.”
If you don’t know Max Domi is the son of Tie Domi. Tie Domi played in the NHL from 1988 to 2006 with majority of his career being spent with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Tie was not much of an offensive player but more of a bruiser. Max, on the other hand, is the much better offensive player in this father-son duo.
This past season with the London Knights of the OHL, Max Domi scored 39 goals and had 87 points. Most likely, Domi will stay in the OHL for another season to hone his skills as he is still a very young player. But the future is bright not only for Domi but for the Coyotes as they have found a young offensive playmaker.
