"“Physically, I feel better and better, the rehabilitation is going well, but I still feel the pain of the foot, even during training. I have to make sure that I will be healthy for the whole season.”"

Phoenix Suns center Marcin Gortat had that to say about his foot injury that ended his 2012-2013 season prematurely. The injury dates back to March, and according to Gortat, is still an issue.

Gortat has taken three weeks away from the Polish national team to tend to the nagging injury. The big man was training with Poland in preparation for the EuroBasket2013 tournament, but headed back overseas to the United States to undergo testing. Gortat fully expects to return to his duties in Poland at the conclusion of these tests.

The 29-year old veteran has spent the past two and a half seasons in Phoenix after backing up superstar center Dwight Howard during his stint with the Orlando Magic. “The Polish Hammer’ is set to become an unrestricted free agent at season’s end if the two sides do not come to an agreement, which at this time, remains unlikely.
