I think the Arizona Cardinals have a new starting running back in rookie Andre Ellington. Today, Ellington would get his first start against the Atlanta Falcons and he sure did perform.

Ellington started for an injured Rashard Mendenhall and he played great. Ellington rushed for 154 yards on 15 carries. His lone touchdown on the day came on an 80 yard run.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer had a good day as well. Yes, he threw one interception but after that he threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns. Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd caught both of Palmer’s touchdowns.

Fitzgerald, who has been mentioned in trade rumors, had a solid game with four receptions for 40 yards and a touchdown. Also Michael Floyd had a solid game with three receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown. Obviously, this was the Andre Ellington show and the Falcons could not stop him but the Cardinals defense showed up today as well.

The Cardinals defense forced Matt Ryan into four interceptions and his lone touchdown pass would go to wide receiver Drew Davis who had five receptions for 77 yards.  The Cardinals defense held the Atlanta Falcons rushing attack to only 27 yards. Matt Ryan was the leading rusher with 13 yards.

The Arizona Cardinals are now 4-4 and 3-1 at home.  Next week, the Cardinals have a bye and won’t play again until November 10th against the Houston Texans.
