The Arizona State Sun Devils got a huge win yesterday afternoon over the Utah Utes 20-19 as they are in prime position to take control of the Pac-12 South division.
Today, USA Today released their latest coaches’ poll and the Sun Devils actually moved up two spots. The now 7-2 Sun Devils came into this week ranked 24th in the coaches’ poll and are now ranked 22nd after yesterday’s win.
Sitting behind ASU at 23, 24, and 25 is the Miami Hurricanes, Texas Longhorns, and Minnesota Golden Gophers. One spot of ahead of the Sun Devils at 21 is the undefeated Northern Illinois Huskies sitting at 9-0.
With only three games left in the season, the Sun Devils could possibly run the table and win the South division and have a chance to play for a Rose Bowl bid. It will not be easy as next Saturday, they take on Oregon State, and on November 23rd, they go on the road to take on UCLA, and then finish off the season at home against their rival the Arizona Wildcats on November 30th.
The UCLA and Arizona games will be important since both teams are in the South division. UCLA is currently in second place in the South division with a 7-2 overall record and a 4-2 conference record.
