The title is self-explanatory; the Arizona Cardinals have lost safety Tyrann Mathieu for the rest of the season to a torn ACL and LCL.
This is a big blow to the Arizona Cardinals’ defense as they are in the middle of a playoff race. Mathieu who was a risky third round pick due to his past at LSU proved his doubters wrong and was becoming a playmaker in the secondary with Patrick Peterson.
Here is a tweet about the injury from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport:
You never want to see players go down with these kinds of injuries because you never know how they will recover. Look at Derrick Rose, who tore his ACL and now he is injured again because of his body overcompensating.
Tyrann Mathieu and the Arizona Cardinals should take extreme caution with him and slowly bring him back after surgery and through rehab. Mathieu this season had 68 tackles, one forced fumble, and two interceptions.
Here is what Mathieu’s teammate Alfonso Smith said on Twitter last night:
We all hope that Tyrann Mathieu has a safe, healthy, and speedy recover.
