The Arizona Diamondbacks have been busy this offseason and it continued today as Eric Chavez re-signed with the team. This was reported by CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman.
The 36-year-old had a very productive season with the Diamondbacks hitting .281 with nine home runs and 44 RBI. Plus at his age he still managed to play in 80 games at multiple positions. Chavez played at third base, first base, designated hitter, and pinch hitter.
Last season, he also had 228 at bats and a .810 OPS. Over his career, Chavez has a .268 batting average with 257 home runs and 894 RBI.
Before playing with the Arizona Diamondbacks last season, he played with the New York Yankees in the 2012 season. With the Yankees that season, he had a .281 batting average, 16 home runs and 37 RBI.
This is a good solid pick up for the Diamondbacks as they look to challenge the Los Angeles Dodgers for the NL West crown.
