We’ve talked about the 2013 Cardinal defense and how they were awfully solid. The offense wasn’t bad, finishing No. 16 in points and No. 12 in yards. Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Ellington had good but unremarkable seasons, with Rashard Mendenhall doing his thing.
The last time the Cardinals were No. 1 in either was back when they had a real Winner as their coach. No seriously, the 1966 St. Louis Cardinals were coached by Charley Winner. The Cardinals gave up the NFL’s fewest yards and were also No. 1 in yards per rushing attempt, at 3.2. Both safeties made the Pro Bowl, with Larry Wilson also named to 1st-team All-Pro.
