Starter – Paul Goldschmidt
Backup – Mark Trumbo

Talk about a powerful combination. Goldschmidt is coming off of a 2013 campaign in which he should have won the National League’s MVP award (went to Andrew McCutchen). Goldy hit .302 with 36 home runs, 125 runs batted in and 15 steals, while posting an excellent .401 on-base percentage. Did I mention he won the Gold Glove, made the All-Star team and won the Silver Slugger? Yeah, pencil him in everyday if you can.

If Goldschmidt does need a break, the Diamondbacks new addition Mark Trumbo can help. Trumbo is a first baseman by trade but will play left field for Arizona. If needed, he’ll fill in admirably. He’s not a Gold Glover, but his .992 fielding percentage at first last season will suffice. Trumbo 34 home runs last season and has 95 in his last three years.
