Delgado came over in the Justin Upton trade before the 2013 season and showed some signs of brilliance, going 5-7 with a 4.26 ERA. He allows nine hits per nine innings and walks just 1.8, but his major issue is keeping the ball in the park. In just 116.1 innings, he allowed 24 home runs. We’re talking Bert Blyleven quality, here.

With that said, Delgado also pitched a gem of a shutout back on July 26, allowing just three hits, walking one and striking out three, showing signs of the pitcher the Diamondbacks hope he’ll become. The Diamondbacks were careful with his pitch count down the stretch, as he didn’t throw over 98 pitches in any of his last seven starts. It’s obvious they see a lot of potential in him.
