Phoenix Mercury Win; Extend Home Winning Streak To 13

The Phoenix Mercury won their 18th win in 19 games tonight as they beat the Atlanta Dream 75-67.
The Mercury set a single-season franchise-record for victories with their 24th of the season (24-4, 14-1 at home).
The team had four players in double figures tonight, with Candace Dupree leading the Phoenix Mercury in scoring with 16 points. Britney Griner was just a rebound and a block away from achieving a triple double; she added 14 points, 9 rebounds and 9 blocks.
The Atlanta Dream used a big third quarter to speed away from the Phoenix Mercury. The Dream outscored Phoenix 22-6 which helped them gain an important lead going into the fourth quarter.
The Phoenix Mercury regained their poise as Diana Traussi took over in the fourth quarter. Traussi scored nine of her fourteen points in the fourth quarter which proved to be a vital component of the game. The Mercury began the fourth quarter on an 11-3 run, this helped to erase a 51-47 deficit, propelling the Mercury to yet another victory.
Penny Taylor had 13 points and 8 assists for the Mercury and they extended their home winning streak to 13 in a row.
The Mercury will play their next game on Thursday, August 7 at 8 p.m. E.T., against the San Antonio Silver Stars.
