The Cardinals may have felt they needed more depth after Kevin Minter has missed some practice time in training camp. There are also some health concerns with Larry Foote who some consider on the downside of his carrer. Considering all the factors, a solid back-up was a priority for the team.
Ernie Sims was vying for the back-up line-backer role before being released by the Cardinals last week. NowDesmond Bishop hopes to be the back-up.
Bishop was just starting to find niche in the NFL before a torn ACL cost him most of the 2014 season. Now he is healthy and the Cardinals could have netted themseleves a solid player if he can hold up throughout the season. It is a good move for the Caridnals to take a flyer on Bishop if he can stay healthy.
