Arizona Basketball Schedules Home-And-Home Series with UConn

It’s been announced that the Arizona Wildcats, and defending National Champion UConn Huskies, have agreed to a two-year home-and-home series starting in 2017. The series will start in Tucson during the 2017-2018 series, which means the Wildcats will head to Connecticut during the 2018-2019 season.

Arguably two of the best programs in the country, behind two of the best coaches in the business, this will be one of the most anticipated match-ups going forward. Although there will be very few players that will remain on either roster three years from now, you can count on Kevin Ollie and Sean Miller to recruit the best. Arizona currently holds the #1 recruiting class for 2015, while Kevin Ollie holds the #27 recruiting class according to 247Sports.

But there’s bad news for Arizona, as the Wildcats are 0-5 all-time against the Huskies. The latest loss to UConn came in 2011, which put an end to Arizona’s Elite 8 run. That same year, UConn also went on to win the National Championship that year.

In just two years at UConn, Kevin Ollie has led the Huskies to a National Championship, going a combined 52-18 (.743). In five years at Arizona, Sean Miller has led the Wildcats to four tournament appearances including two Elite 8’s and a Sweet 16, finishing a combined 128-48 (.729).

As if Arizona didn’t have enough to be excited about, we have this match-up to look forward to in a few years.
