Final: Arizona Wildcats 58 UNLV Rebels 13

The Arizona Wildcats started their season Friday night against the UNLV Rebels. There had been a lot of question surrounding the Wildcats offense, but Anu Solomon was named the starting quarterback and was ready to lead.

We discussed the quarterback battle earlier in the week here.

Solomon put on a show for the Wildcat fans as he threw for two touchdowns in the first quarter. That set the tone for the Wildcats offense throughout the rest of the game.

Solomon would go on to break the Wildcats freshmen passing yards record throwing for 425 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Solomon was also efficient on the ground. He ran 8 times for 50 yards as well.

The Arizona Wildcats set a school record for total yards with 787

Terris Jones-Grisby had a coming out party of his own. The 5th year senior running back had his first career start and did he take advantage of the opportunity. Jones-Grisby finished with 13 carries for 124 yards and a touchdown.

The Wildcats opened up a 24-6 lead at halftime, but ran away in the second half as they beat the Rebels xxx-xxx.

ESPN’s College Football liked what they saw from Solomon in the first half as well!
