When it is all said and done the PAC-12 could emerge as the toughest conference in the country this year.  Top to bottom the PAC-12 is solid and teams are starting to prove that during their non conference.    While most of the conference beat-up on the Mountain West, other scored surprising wins on the road against quality opponents.

There were some surprises with the way some team played offense as well.  Some of the conferences high-powered offenses struggled out of the gate while elsewhere stars emerged to lead their teams to blow-out victories.

As for the top-tier of the PAC-12,  they all took care of business but the power rankings are destined to change next week as some teams have early conference match-ups that could determine the direction of their season.

Week 1 PAC 12 Football Power Rankings

12 Colorado Buffaloes

Last Game Colorado 17 Colorado State 31

The Buffs got blown up by their instate rival from the Mountain West Conference.  Instate rivals are tough but this is one the Buffs should have had at home.

11 Washington State Cougars

Last Game: Washington State 38 Rutgers 41

Rutgers had to rally late to steal this one from the Cougars.  The Cougars had a lead but couldn’t outlast middle of the road Rutgers during a fourth quarter shoot-out.  Bad loss for the Cougars who should have beaten the Big Ten’s newest addition.
