Coyotes goalie Mike Smith’s right knee is back to normal and has been for months.

"“The MCL sprain suffered March 24 that sidelined Smith for the remainder of the season and subsequently helped derail the Coyotes playoff hopes has completely healed.“I feel really good about where I’m at right now,” Smith said.That might be the best news to emerge from the offseason because after the Coyotes offense took a hit this summer with the departures of Radim Vrbata and Mike Ribeiro — all while their Western Conference foes only seemed to add more offensive talent — Smith might be the most influential when it comes to determining the Coyotes playoff fate next season.”"

There could potentially be four roster spots open for the Arizona Coyotes and they could be filled with rookies from their camp.

"“With potentially three forward spots available, the Coyotes brass has set its targets set on a core of young players. While the hope and expectation is that these players can make the transition from juniors and the American Hockey League, the change can be daunting.Speed, power, an advanced skill level and experience are but a few of the obstacles facing these, and all rookies, attempting to make NHLrosters this fall.“There are so many great hockey players here and it’s really intense,” forward Tyler Gaudet told reporters after practice on Monday. “Just play your game and see what happens.”"
