Julius Thomas Fined For Chop Block
By Mario Hicks
Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas has been fined by the NFL for his illegal chop block on Arizona Cardinals DE Calais Campbell according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Thomas dove into Campbell’s knees for a the chop block which caused an injury and forced Campbell to miss most of the second half of Sunday’s game. Thomas was flagged for the hit which is no consolation prize for the injury Campbell suffered.
Campbell suffered a MCL strain and may be sidelined for up to three weeks. Below is a video of the play.
Head coach Bruce Arians called the block on of the dirtest plays he’s ever seen.
The fine of $8,268 is laughable for most fans as this will not make up for the damage done to Campbell’s knees. The Cardinals are already struggling with QB injures and to add Campbell to the list makes matters even worst.
Julius Thomas walks away from the situation with a slap on the wrist, and Cardinals will have to find a way to fill the void of loosing Campbell.
The Cardinals will return home this week as they take on the Washington Redskins on Sunday October 12th at 1:25 p.m
