No. 16 Arizona Wildcats Volleyball Defeats Cal

The sixteen ranked Arizona Wildcats returned home Wednesday night to face a Pac-12 opponent, the California Golden Bears at McKale Center. The Wildcats are coming off a 2-1 road trip against UCLA, Utah, and Colorado. Cal, seeking their first Pac-12 win entered Wednesday’s matchup having lost four straight in Pac-12 play.

Arizona Wildcats Volleyball hosts #1 ranked Stanford this Friday October 10th at 8:00pm on Pac-12 Networks. The first 100 fans will receive an Arizona camo bandana in honor of Military Appreciation Night.

Coming off a loss in Colorado, Arizona looked to bounce back right off the start vs. Cal. Maddy Kingdon lead the leader board with 13 kills on 36 attempts. Arizona took the first set 25-19. Penina Snuka never seems to miss an opportunity assisting her teammates, she lead the board with 33 assists. Arizona Wildcats got off to a hot start in the second set with an early 4-0 lead while Cal answered and quickly tied up the set at eleven all. Arizona didn’t seem to turn back from there. They pursued a 20-14 lead ending the second set with yet another 25-19 win.

With Cal giving up 6 early errors to start the third set, the Arizona Wildcats jumped out to a quick 11-0 run. The Arizona defense held Cal to a .082 hitting percentage while senior Taylor Arizobal led the Wildcats with 5 blocks. Cal tried to keep pace with the Wildcats but UA ended the set with a 7-2 run ending the third match 25-11 sweeping the Bears.
