Airing It Out

The Cardinals and Redskins attacked each other through the air almost abandoning the run game at points in the game.  Kirk Cousins and Carson Palmer combined for a 604 yards passing.  Both quarterbacks had a pair of touchdowns but only one was able to take care of the football as Kirk Cousins 3 interceptions in the fourth quarter were the difference in the game against the Arizona Cardinals bend but don’t break defense.

Taking It Away

What the Arizona Cardinals defense lacked in pass coverage they made up for with turnovers.   The Birdgang was opportunistic on defense, intercepting the Redskins high-risk high reward passing attack 3 times while also forcing a fumble.

Master and Apprentice

Larry Fitzgerald had his best game of the year catching 6 passes for 98 yards including a 24 yard touchdown pass.  Fitzgerald has looked like a superstar on the downside of his career for much of the season but today found the fountain showing the great hands a toughness that made him a superstar for his entire career. Fitzgerald’s apprentice Micheal Floyd also had a solid game catching 4 balls for 47 yards and a touchdown. It is clear that Floyd has benefited from playing alongside the future Hall of Famer and has developed into the Cardinals #1 receiving threat.

Nerves Of Steal

When Carson Palmer got the nod to start today it was said that he was about 90%.  There was no sign of the missing 10 percentage points as the Cardinals quarterback lit up the Redskins for 250 yards and 2 touchdowns.  It was a better than expected performance for Palmer who was a game day decision after missing 3 weeks with a nerve injury.

Top Of The Heap

Today’ win was big in respect to the Arizona Cardinals ranking in the NFC West.  The win moves the Cardinals to 4-1 ,a game ahead of the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers in the division. With a road win against San Francisco in hand and both game against Seattle remaining the Birdgang control their own destiny in the toughest division in football
