Arizona Diamondbacks Edition

While the rest of the baseball world is waiting for the end of the postseason the Arizona Diamondbacks brain trust got on with the task of rebuilding the team. On Monday the team announced the hiring of former A’s bench coach Chip Hale as their next manager.  Tony LaRussa commented on the hiring by saying that their “wasn’t a box he didn’t have checked.”

"Goldschmidt fractured his hand after being hit by a pitch on August 1. He was able to take batting practice on Saturday and hit from the cage on Sunday without any pain and will likely hit again after Thanksgiving. The 27-year-old has established himself as one of the top hitters in the National League. Goldschmidt posted a .300/.396/.542 line in 109 games before the injury."
