The Arizona Cardinals have “Shocked the World” once again. With the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers going into the playoffs last year, the NFC West has been considered one of the best in the league. For the Cardinals it seemed almost impossible to be better than the Seahawks or the 49ers, at least according to the football world. The Cardinals beg to differ, as they’ve shown through their performance.

After rough patch in week 5 against Denver, the Cardinals weren’t going to let their end to their undefeated record affect them.  Players such as cornerback Patrick Peterson of the Cardinals and star wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald proved they were in fact moving on.

The Arizona Cardinals went into Sunday’s game against the Redskins at a record of 3-1 while the Redskins sat at a record of 1-4. However, the main headline of this game was the return of the Cardinal’s starting quarterback Carson Palmer. Palmer made his first start since the season opener against San Diego. Palmer threw 28 for 44 totaling for 250 yards, and two touchdowns.

Another huge factor in the Arizona Cardinals’ victory was the success of  Larry Fitzgerald. The Cardinals finally put Larry’s potential to use as he had six catches totaling for 98 yards, and a touchdown, his first touchdown of the season to be exact. Joining Larry Fitzgerald was Michael Floyd with a touchdown of his own in his 47 yards and four catches.

While the Cardinal offense finally shined, the defense was phenomenal as always. Cardinal defense had three interceptions, two by Rashad Johnson, and one from Jerraud Powers. Linebacker Alex Okafor had an astonishing two sacks. Wrapping up the amazing defensive performance, Cardinal fans should also be very happy that Tyrann Mathieu is bouncing back strong after coming off of those ACL and MCL tears. Mathieu had four tackles and a recovered fumble.

The Cardinals ended up in victory as they defeated the Redskins 30-20, improving to 4-1 and dropping the Redskins to a record of 1-5. With Seattle’s loss to Dallas, the Cardinals remain atop the NFC West by a whopping one game. The Cardinals will prepare this week as they take on the winless Oakland Raiders in Oakland who sit at a record of 0-5. Kickoff in Oakland is at 1:25.
