The Arizona Coyotes (1-1) face off against the Edmonton Oilers (0-3) at the Gila river Arena on Wednesday night.

After a falling flat in the opener against the Winnipeg Jets, the Coyotes fought back to beat the LA Kings on the road in overtime.  They hope to bring that fight to the Oilers who have been struggling out of the gate this season.

Mike Smith will be back in goal for another chance at his first win of the season. Smith’s job is on the line if he can’t put it together against the Oilers after Devon Dubnyk performed well against the Kings.

The Edmonton Oilers have stumbled to an 0-3 start this season after losses to the Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks and LA Kings.  Their last game, a 6-1 loss to the Kings, was easily their worst so far this season as the Oiler seem to be regressing rather than progressing.

The Oiler may be a struggling team but that have speed and speed can turn a losing streak into a winning streak in a hurry.  The Coyotes understand this and will be looking to elimnate the Oilers scoring chances tonight.

"“I think we did a pretty good job the other day against the Kings. I think we realized that Edmonton is a completely different team. They play a different style. They have more speed, more skill, more high-end skill, and they’re maybe not as physical as the Kings so maybe it’s a little bit of a different approach. “But at the end, it’s all about eliminating their scoring chances, shots and keeping the puck out of our net. In the end, it ends up being the same job.” defenseman Zbynek Michalek said."

If the Arizona Coyotes can match the intensity they had in their last win, they should be able to skate away with a victory against the Oilers.
