College Football Playoff Rankings: Arizona Wildcats #12
By Tony Fischer
The College Football Playoff Rankings have finally been released and the 12 person committee in charge of the rankings was very kind to the Arizona Wildcats. The fighting Rich Rods are ranked #12 in the first ever rankings and are positioned well to move up in the rankings if they keep winning games.
The Wildcats have three top 25 teams left on their schedule. The first of which they play this weekend when they visit #22 UCLA.
If the Arizona Wildcats want to be considered for the playoff every game is a must win now. If they can manage to win out the Wildcats would have a strong case to be included in the playoff. A 12-1 finish by the Wildcats will give them five victories against top 25 teams including two against Oregon (assuming they play them in the PAC 12 Championship game).
but if the Wildcats are going to make the playoff they will have to leapfrog a couple of SEC teams. Three of the top 4 teams in the College Football Playoff Rankings come from the SEC, a dominance that is not likely to continue considering they all play each other down the stretch. That leaves the door open for a 12-1 Arizona Wildcats team to play for a national championship if everything goes as planned.
