Tobias Rieder Could Provide Scoring Punch For Arizona Coyotes
By Tony Fischer
The Arizona Coyotes have had trouble scoring goals this season. The Coyotes 2.58 goals per game ranks the 17th in the NHL . The number puts them in the bottom half of the league is scoring leaving the Coyotoes looking for addtional scoring.
Enter Tobias Rieder
The German born prospect was acquired by the Coyotes in a trade with the Edmondton Oilers in 2013 after scoring 69 goals over two season in the minors.
Tobias Rieder made his Arizona Coyotesdebut agaisnt the Washigton Capitals on Sunday and did not let the nerves of his first NHL start get the better of him.
"“I was actually a little scared,” he said. “I thought there was maybe a mistake going on there. It’s just great playing my first NHL game with guys like that. That’s a moment I’ll never forget."
Rieder was thrown right into the fire agaisnt the Capitals starting on the Arizona Coyotes top line with Shane Doan and Antonie Vermette. On Tuesday against the Maple Leafs Tobias Rieder logged over 14 minutes with 1 shot and was +1.
If Tobias Reider can come close to the scoring pace he was on in the minors he could provide the scoring punch the 5-6-1 Arizona Coyotes deparately need. Scoring punch they will need when they visit the Ananhiem Ducks on Friday.
