Arizona State Sun Devils Control College Football Playoff Destiny
By Tony Fischer
The Arizona State Sun Devils took a big step toward College Football hisotry. Sure they still have to impress the selection committee but the Arizona State Sun Devils have straight shot to the first ever College Football Playoff in they can keep winning.
After last week win over #17 Utah the Sun Devils recieved their highest ranking of the season going into the Notre Dame game but critics weren’t impressed. They wanted to see another quality victory over Nortre Dame before they started to believe in the Sun Devils.
ASU’s impressive 55-31 victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish answered the critics who were calling them overrated after last weeks #9 ranking in the CFP Top 25. The victory over Notre Dame improved the Sun Devils record to 8-1 and bumped them to #7 in the AP Top 25. Now they await the selection committee rankings due to be released on Tuesday night.

The Sun Devils victory over the Irish represents their 4th over Top 25 opponents. A resume that can only me matched by #6 TCU and #1 Mississippi State. One could argue that ASU has a better resume than their PAC 12 counterpart Oregon.
The Assoicated Press saw fit to give the Arizona State Sun Devils a bump up in the rankings. If the CFP selection committee does the same they will put the Sun Devils within striking distance of the College Football Playoff.
With Oregon State, Washington State and #19 Arizona left on the schedule, ASU has a chance to get into the PAC-12 championship game where they will likely face a highly ranked Oregon Ducks team. If they can manage to beat the Ducks they will most likely take their place among the Top 4 teams in the College Football Playoff Rankings.
There is still quite a bit of football to play and two major obstacles to overcome but ASU has a rare opportunity in front of them. All they have to do is win.
