Arizona Coyotes Fall To Struggling Dallas

The Dallas Stars defeated the Arizona Coyotes 3-1.

Both Dallas and Arizona began the game flying offensively. Both teams sustained pressure in the offensive zone and had multiple high quality chances to score. Arizona would strike first, as Lauri Korpikoski put a rebound in the net in the dying seconds of a power play.  Arizona continued to play great defensively. They went into the intermission with the lead.

Dallas had the edge in the 2nd period. They brought pressure all period long but Arizona’s defense did their part and kept the Stars off the scoreboard. It appeared that Dallas had tied the game, but the goal was immediately waived off by the officials. Goalie interference was the call and the game remained 1-0 in favor of Arizona. The Coyotes finished off the period strong with the lead intact.

The 3rd period began as bad as it possibly could for Arizona. Dallas scored only 19 seconds into the period. 52 seconds after that, they scored again to take the lead 2-1. The energy the Coyotes started the game with was nowhere to be seen in the 3rd.  Dallas added another goal late to seal the deal. The Coyotes could never really get anything going offensively this period. Shane Doan thought he had scored in the final seconds but the puck never fully crossed the goal line and the game was over.
