Arizona Cardinals familiar With Being “Underdogs”

Yes, the Arizona Cardinals, sitting at 9-1, with the best record in the NFL are considered the “underdogs” as they go into Seattle this Sunday.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the Seattle Seahawks, who are 6-4, were 6.5-point favorites, per Westgate Las Vegas.

Bruce Arians stated, “Going up there, everybody is usually an underdog,” coach Bruce Arians said. “We don’t really need any more extra motivation to go play them, especially at their place. They’re the world champions. We’re just 9-1. We haven’t done s—.”

In other words, it was almost anticipated that the Cardinals be underdogs. As mentioned before, they’re used to it. Having the best record for weeks in a row, they still haven’t gotten as much credit as deserved, therefore leading to them not being as shocked to this news.

The Cardinals defeated the Seahawks last season in Seattle, the place that was almost a black hole for away teams. This was Seattle’s only loss at home for the 2012-13 season. Of course, the tables are turned this season. Last season, the Cardinals went into Seattle needing a win for their season to stay alive. This season, they go into Seattle with a three game lead in the NFC West, and Seattle needing the win this time.

Cornerback Patrick Peterson definitely isn’t bothered by being an underdog. In fact, he stated, “I do feel like we are the best team. We haven’t lost since Week 5, and that was to a very good Denver team on the road.”

In addition, Patrick Peterson’s close teammate Tyrann Mathieu, referred to as the “honey badger” also made this post on instagram.

It’s clear that being “underdogs” is the least of the Cardinals’ worries as their main focus is extending their lead to four games in the NFC West over the Seahawks, and improving to 10-1, maintaining the NFL’s best record. After all, in 2008 the Cardinals were also the underdogs even throughout the playoffs, that seemed to get them pretty far as they went to the Superbowl and lost in the last seconds of the game.

It’s going to be an exciting ride as underdogs once again, and the Cardinals are hungrier than ever as they are determined to make it to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2008, especially since they would have home-field advantage in the 2015 Super Bowl.
