Arizona Wildcats Can Still Get To PAC 12 Championship With Win
By Tony Fischer
The Arizona Wildcats enter Saturdays’ game with the Utah Utes in a three-way tie for the PAC 12 South. Although it is a long one the Arizona Wildcats still have a shot at the PAC 12 championship game if they win out. And if they get a little help.
Thinking about the complicated scenarios that would land the Wildcats a berth into the championship game could be a distraction but Head Coach Rich Rodriguez is keeping his team focused on the task in front of them. This week that is beating the Utes.
"“It’s always in the back of your mind, but it shouldn’t be because none of that matters anyway. Right now, we’re just trying to focus on the Utah game coming up this weekend,” offensive lineman Mickey Baucus said. “We need a little help to win the South, but if we don’t win the rest of our games, it doesn’t even matter. We need to keep our focus on this week.”"
Beating the Utes won’t be an easy task. The fast paced Arizona Wildcats offense will have to contend with the high altitude and the defense will have to try to stop a high-powered Utah running attack.
Utah has also had an up and down season. They have had some signature wins against Michigan,Stanford and USC but it is their 1-3 record against top 25 teams that has been their downfall.
Despite the inconsistencies the Utes are still playing with confidence and believe they can beat anybody given their best effort.
"“We haven’t won every close game. We know that, but these guys believe that they are going to win every game that they are in,” coach Kyle Whittingham said. “When it comes right down to the wire, there is a lot of belief on our team that they are going to get it done. And they have most weeks.”"
Expect a close game with a lot of offense when these two lock it up in Utah.
