HeatWaved Staff Writer Of The Week: Richard Duflo
By Tony Fischer
As mentioned before the HeatWaved staff come from all walks of life but in the end they are all passionate sports fans. Each one of our writers has a passion for a particular sport team. Some are huge fans for the Arizona Wildcats others the Sun Devils. Some are Cardinal crazy and still others follow the Coyotes.
That is the case for the HeatWaved Writer Of The Week Richard Duflo. As our resident puck head, Richard Duflo has been keeping HeatWaved up to date with Arizona Coyotes game recaps and analysis. We are happy to have him on board and thank him for the passion he brings to his writing.
We wanted the readers to learn a little more about Richard so we asked him a few questions. We hope you enjoy his interview.
HW: You have been providing some great hockey content for HeatWaved. Tell the readers a little about yourself and how you became such a big hockey fan?
"Duflo: When I was younger, my dad would take me to the old Phoenix Roadrunner games. That is where I started to enjoy hockey. Once the Coyotes moved here from Winnipeg, I really started to love the game. We used to go to as many games as we could. I even enjoyed sitting up in the restricted view seats at America West Arena. Just being at the game was enough. I’ve followed the NHL and Coyotes ever since their first season here."
HW: Why do you chose to write for HeatWaved?
"Duflo: Mario Hicks actually found me on Twitter and invited me to join the site. I’m currently majoring in journalism so it seemed like a no brainer. I love AZ sports (despite how hard it can be at times) and would like to make a career out of covering it eventually. It was a great opportunity and I couldn’t be happier writing for the site, it has been a great experience."
HW: Out of all the posts that you have written which one was your favorite and what inspired it?
"Duflo: My favorite post would have to be my first one, Coyotes’ Rookies Fighting For Roster Spots. I chose it for a few different reasons. One, it was my first. I was excited and eager to begin getting content up on the site. Two, it was nearing the beginning of the season. Hockey was back and it was exciting. It was also exciting to see the future of the team growing in front of us at training camp."
