The 2nd choice for Arizona State would be to return to the Holiday Bowl. Although they were outplayed in last year’s Holiday Bowl against Texas Tech, the Sun Devils would not mind to return to sunny San Diego for this bowl game.
Beginning this year, the Holiday Bowl will be played between Pac-12 and Big Ten conference teams. The committee for this bowl will be given the third choice amongst Pac-12 teams and the fourth choice amongst Big Ten teams.
If Arizona is to lose to Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship game and do not receive an at-large bid to the Fiesta Bowl or Cotton Bowl then the Wildcats would likely receive the Alamo Bowl and UCLA receive the Holiday Bowl.
Another scenario with Arizona receiving the Fiesta Bowl and UCLA receiving the Alamo Bowl could also play against Arizona State as the Holiday Bowl has never once featured the USC Trojans in their bowl. USC may have an advantage over Arizona State for receiving a bid as having a more local team with a larger fan base in the area would help with attendance for the game.
