The Cubs have been rebuilding for the last few seasons and look to be ready to pick up a major piece in Miguel Montero.  With relatively young team and plenty of prospects on the way, Montero could provide valuable leadership and consistent production for Chicago’s line-up.

As for Arizona, this move could help restock the shelves in the minors while the team finishes their rebuilding effort.  It also trims about $40 million off of the payroll and could allow add another bat to the line-up.  It could also free up space to add one of the ace starting pitchers on the market.  That said look for the Dave Stewart to avoid big money contracts as the Diamondbacks already have a number of those on the books.
