After trading longtime catcher Miguel Montero, today the Arizona Diamondbacks trade rumors surrounded starting pitcher Wade Miley. Â Both the Red Sox and Marlins are said to have been in talks with Dave Stewart about trading for Miley. Â In fact their was a rumored deal in place for Wade Miley that would send him to Boston for two or three players including pitchers Rubby De La Rosa and Allen Webster.
#RedSox have agreement in principle for #DBacks’ Miley, sources tell me and @jonmorosi. AZ will get Webster, De La Rosa and a minor leaguer.

But the usually dependable Jon Morosi may be wrong in this instance as General Manger Dave Stewart is telling the beat writers for AZCentral that a deal has not been reached saying that the team has yet to agree on a minor leaguer.
#Dbacks GM Dave Stewart denies they have a deal with #RedSox, getting Webster and DelaRosa for Wade Miley_unable to yet agree on prospects.

Dbacks source says they’ve discussed Webster & De La Rosa with Red Sox in deal for Miley but no agreement has been reached.

If the rumored deal is accurate it raises a lot of questions.  Wade Miley seems to fit into the Arizona Diamondbacks rebuilding efforts.  The left-hander was 8-12 with a 4.34 ERA last season.  Miley’s numbers have declined over since his All Star year in 2012 but he is still a very serviceable start especially for his $523,500 salary.
Declining numbers aside Miley is marketable and drawing interest from multiple teams. Â The Diamondbacks still have a big need at catcher after sending Montero to the Cubs, hopefully any trade for Miley would include a catcher coming back in the deal.
