9/22/2014 – Josh Collmenter Earns 11th Win
If there was a feel good story from the 2014 season it was Josh Collmenter. The 15th round draft pick out of Central Michigan University had his best season as a starter posting his 11th win late in the 2014 season. The right handed starter also recorded career highs in strikeouts (115) and WAR (2.4)
The highlight of Collementer’s season came on May 29th when he pitched a three-hit complete game shutout at home against the Cincinnati Reds. At the time, the win extended an individual winning streak to four games, a streak that would turn out to be his longest of the season.
Collmenter’s success as a starter solidified his spot in the starting rotation next season. With Wade Miley now a member of the Boston Red Sox, Collmenter could find himself filling the role of staff ace until some of the Diamondbacks newly acquired prospects are ready to take a leadership role.
