Arizona Wildcats Pick Up Three JUCO Recruits

Why not Tucson, Arizona? Great weather, beautiful facilities and girls, home of the Pac-12 South Champions and Territorial Cup.

Since Rich Rodriguez has arrived, he’s pulled in some of the top recruiting classes in the country. This week, the Arizona Wildcats secured three JUCO recruits, the first official signings of the 2015 class.

The big surprise of the three is Anthony Fotu, a four-star defensive tackle out of Laney College (Oakland, California). Fotu held offers from Washington, Mississippi State and Miami. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 285 pounds, Fotu can come in immediately to help hold down the line.

Arizona coaches expect senior Reggie Gilbert to win his appeal for a medical redshirt, giving the defensive line some experience. Timmy Hamilton, a verbal JUCO commit, should be able to help replace Dan Pettinato on the defensive line, meanwhile freshman Marcus Griffin and incoming tackle Sharif Williams should also be able to provide support.

The next signing is Paul Magloire, who has been featured on HeatWaved many times. For more on him click here for his breakdown.

Next comes Matt Morin, a three-star tight end transfer from Riverside Community College. Originally committed to San Diego State as a quarterback, Morin asked for a release from the school. He was apparently a pretty solid left-handed quarterback.

Morin attended a camp at USC one summer and apparently had the greatest velocity and strength of all quarterbacks. In attendance at the camp was current Arizona quarterback Connor Brewer and Utah’s starting quarterback, Travis Wilson. Since then though, the 6-foot-3 246 pound lefty has switched to tight end.

After playing tight end at Riverside CC, Morin picked up offers from Arizona State, Arizona and Iowa State, committing to Arizona in September. The offense doesn’t necessarily run tight ends, especially since the departure of Terrence Miller and the increased production from the slew of receivers. However, he could definitely help play the role of the wing, just as Austin Hill did this season.

This is all just the beginning of another beautiful recruiting class put together by Rodriguez and company.
