Coaching Could Be Key To Arizona Cardinals Victory
By Tony Fischer
The Arizona Cardinals host the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football in a game that will decide the winner of the NFC West division.
The Cards are 11-3 and own the best record in the NFC despite being decimated by injuries this season. As a result of injuries, Bruce Arians has been forced to use four starting quarterbacks and two starting running backs, not normally the profile of a team on the verge of capturing the home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
So how have the Cardinals been able to remain relevant playoff contenders?
It’s been coaching, pure and simple. The Cardinals offensive and defensive schemes have been carefully crafted and executed by the players. With the revolving door at key positions for the Cardinals, it is hard to argue against the effect that Arians and his staff have had on the Cardinals this season.
Will great coaching be enough to get the Cards to the Superbowl though? The result of game on Sunday will go along way to telling us.
It will be a playoff atmosphere at University of Phoenix Stadium where the Seahawks are heavily favored to beat the Cardinals. It will be an interesting test for Arizona to see if they can overcome adversity against a playoff quality opponent at home It is a test that Arians and his staff are excited to take.
"“You don’t get to play for the damn things very often. It’s not like Seattle’s played for them 100 damn years. I’m sure they’re embracing it also. You fight your ass off all year to play for this game and sure you embrace it, but you don’t change how you prepare for it,” Arians added. “It’s still the same process.”"
It is cliché to say that a team adopts the attitude of their coach. If the Cardinals approach this game with the focused intensity of their head coach, they will have a big chance to upset the Seahawks and grab home field advantage in the playoffs in the process.
