The Washington Wizards are playing an exciting brand of basketball and in doing so have jumped out to a 19-6 record in the first quarter of the season and will look to reach the 20-win plateau on Sunday evening when they take on the Phoenix Suns.

It would be the least amount of games taken for the Wizards to make it to 20 wins in franchise history as they are on pace to break a franchise record for wins. After a loss to the Cavaliers on Nov. 26, the Wizards have only lost one game, while racking up 10 wins in the process including two victories over the Heat and one over the Clippers.

After dropping six consecutive games and holding a record of 12-14, the Suns have battled back to win their past two contests on the road against the Charlotte Hornets and the New York Knicks and now are back to .500 at 14-14.

Eric Bledsoe took over in the fourth quarter on Saturday against the Knicks and finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds in the winning effort.

The Suns front court has struggled since they traded Marcin Gortat to Washington before the beginning of last season for the expiring contract of Emeka Okafor. The backcourt has had to pick up the slack caused by Miles Plumlee and Alex Len and has been carrying the Suns this season.

There have been multiple trade rumors as of late connected to Goran Dragic and Isaiah Thomas that would net Phoenix a big man. Only time will tell to see if the Suns’ front office will pull the trigger and bring in a center to assist the front court.

The guard matchups will be very interesting in this contest with Dragic lining up across a budding star in John Wall, 17.9 points per game,10.6 assists per game, and 2.1 steals per game, while Bledsoe lined up with Bradley Bealwho is averaging just north of 15 points per game.

It will be a very difficult task for the Suns to defeat the Wizards on the road as they hold a 13-2 record at the Verizon Center and have been clicking on all cylinders. If they can win the guard battle and get some help from the second best scoring bench in the NBA, they can definitely hang right with Washington.

The game will tip-off at 4 PM MST from Washington, DC.
