Sun Bowl: Final Prediction

facebooktwitterreddit

Alright, it’s time to make some final predictions for Saturday’s Sun Bowl between the Arizona State Sun Devils and the Duke Blue Devils!

I went to Twitter to ask some college football enthusiasts what they thought the final score would be in the game…

As of 11 AM. MST on Friday, it was 37 degrees and snowy in El Paso, but the forecast calls for 50 degrees and sunshine on Saturday. If the weather from Friday does carry over to Saturday, the colder climate could definitely benefit the Blue Devils as we have all seen the Sun Devils struggle in cold weather (see: game at Oregon State).

I personally believe that Arizona State has the advantage heading into this game but the thing watch for will be which team will take care of the football better.

Arizona State ranks sixth in the nation in turnover margin with a +12, while Duke ranks 21st with a +8 as both teams have limited mistakes throughout the year with both teams having just 13 turnovers a piece.

Let’s just say that the turnover battle is even on Saturday. If this happens, the game will then come down to the effectiveness of the Duke offense as they will have to keep pace with Arizona State’s high-octane offensive attack. The Blue Devils do possess the weapons necessary to put up big numbers in the box score and it should be a very exciting bowl game to watch.

Taylor Kelly must limit mistakes and use his own weapons to the best of their abilities. If he is able to do so then the Sun Devils should enjoy continued success throughout the contest. Kelly will want to go out on top as this is his last game as well as it being top wide-receiver Jaelen Strong’s last game. Strong has chosen to forego his senior season and enter the NFL draft in April.

If Arizona State can come out and play “Sun Devil football” they will come away victorious.

FINAL PREDICTION: Arizona State 41, Duke 24
