Todd Bowles is getting his troops ready for the first playoff game the Cardinals have been in since 2009 and he does have a lot of distractions facing him. A lot of teams want him to be their head coach for next season and are willing to throw a lot of money his way to buy him off the Cardinals staff.

The question that Bowles faces is will he stay or will he go?

It may be in Bowles best interest to leave Arizona at the end of the season because has never been on this many team’s radars. Bowles took a defensive unit that was decimated by injuries and suspensions and got them to play great.

When the offense dropped off after season-ending injuries to Carson Palmer and possibly Drew Stanton, they fell down to the bottom half in total defense but still managed to be ranked top 5 in points allowed per game. Bowles had an excellent season while getting the most out of his players who overachieved throughout the entire year. He won’t be this hot of a commodity again and he needs to capitalize on this opportunity.

A perfect job for Bowles could be in Atlanta.  Mike Smith was dismissed today by the Falcons and Bowles could help the Falcons build a winner in the NFC South. They have their offensive playmakers in place and they have their franchise quarterback. A defensive-minded coach like Bowles can help them rebuild their defense and give them that rough and tough attitude they’ve been missing for a long time now.

Atlanta will get the eighth overall pick for this year’s draft and they can use it to get their big defensive playmaker. The Falcons also now play in the worst division in the NFL (which can change any time of the season). Atlanta has all the offense it needs to become a Super Bowl contender but it needs a half way decent defense to help accomplish this dream.

Hiring the Cardinals defensive coordinator would be a step in the right direction for that dream.
