D.J. Foster and the Arizona State Sun Devils announced that Foster would return to the program for his senior season next year on Tuesday morning. He will wait to declare to play at the next level when the 2016 NFL Draft rolls around.

After his first year as the primary running back in the Sun Devils’ system, Foster will be back for more. He has racked up 3,965 all-purpose yards and 28 touchdowns in 40 games during his career with the Sun Devils.

Coach Todd Graham said, “D.J. is the face of the program and he is going to have a great career in the NFL. Deciding to get his degree shows great maturity.”

Foster set the tone in the backfield this year for the Sun Devils who soared up the national rankings, reaching as high as No. 6 in the nation at one point. With Foster back next year, the Sun Devils’ won’t miss a step with the dual threat Scottsdale native catching passes out of the backfield and making game-changing plays.

Quite remarkable for a running back, Foster has caught a pass in all 40 games he has played in during his collegiate career. His 163 receptions rank him at fifth in school history.

This season he had 194 carries, 1,081 rushing yards, and nine scores on the ground. By bringing in 62 receptions for 688 receiving yards he also became just the third player in Arizona State history to have consecutive 60 reception seasons.

Foster was able to pick-up a great complement back in true freshman Demario Richard this year and the Arizona State offense may look to give Richard more carries next year and have Foster set out wide in the slot.

Arizona State fans will rejoice the return of Foster as he will continue to produce fireworks for the Sun Devils in 2015.
