It’s only been hours since the Arizona Cardinals loss to the Carolina Panthers, but it’s not too early to look at that positions that the Red Birds will have to address come this offseason.

I will go through some of the needs that the Cardinals have and trades, the draft and free agency can all be ways they can accomplish these.

Shall we get started?

More from Arizona Cardinals

1: Quarterback

Yep, I said it. I think this team needs to get ready for the future and it SHOULDN’T be Logan Thomas. The Cardinals lost to an average Carolina team because of their quarterback play and you don’t know how much longer Carson Palmer is going to play after his latest knee injury.

Arizona should use a high pick to get their quarterback of the future and if he isn’t ready for the spotlight yet, you can turn to Palmer or Drew Stanton until he’s ready. And for those who don’t agree, do you really want to trust the future on the guy who couldn’t beat out Ryan Lindley in a playoff game?

I don’t know why Bruce Arians didn’t put him in but I don’t believe in Thomas. I also don’t think Stanton is the man of the future either but he’s certainly better than Thomas and Lindley.

2: Pass Rusher

The Cardinals need that stud guy who can get after the quarterback, someone like Von Miller, Clay Matthews or Michael Bennett that can take over a game by himself.

Throughout the season, the Cardinals had to send the house so often to generate a pass rush, putting the secondary on islands with their man. It worked a lot but it also backfired at times as well.

I believe that the Cardinals front four will get better just on all the players they’ll get back because of injuries like John Abraham and Darnell Dockett. If they want a more lasting impact, they’ll go into the free agent market and draft looking for pass rushers.

3: Running Back

I don’t like Stephen Taylor or Kerwynn Williams enough that I think they can be the franchise backs this team needs and I want to see more of Andre Ellington before I can make up my mind on him. He was too inconsistent this year and I feel like he can’t last a whole season due to his size.

The Cards were the second worst rushing team last year and that needs to be improved if they want a more balanced offense. I believe they will get their man in this years draft, if not they can get another back to help carry the workload for the other running backs, though four running backs might be a bit too much.

The Cards do have other needs but those are the top needs I personally believe they need to get fixed. This team has a lot of talent and will be in the playoff hunt for years to come, but if they need to address these areas and especially the first one if they want to continue winning in the future.
